Basic Life Support (BLS) Medic Training Course

Formerly know as the HLT41115 – Certificate IV in Health Care.

The Nationally Recognised HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care (2012) qualification can open the door to a career as an Ambulance Officer, First Responder, Patient Transport Officer or Basic Life Support Medic.

Upon completion, you will be qualified to provide pre-hospital and out-of-hospital basic health care response, as well as patient assessment of those who require urgent medical attention. This is an online course, complete with a comprehensive 7-day clinical workshop and clinical placement assistance.

Clinical Skills Development

After completing the HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care, you will possess the knowledge and skills of a Basic Life Support (BLS) medic. This includes basic airway management, an introduction to 4 lead ECG monitoring and automatic defibrillation, intramuscular injections, oxygen therapies (including nebulised medications), BLS resuscitation, basic drug management and pharmacology.

You will also develop the required skills for primary and secondary patient assessments; and use clinical reasoning to develop treatment plans for ill and injured patients.
