RIIWHS204D – WORK SAFELY AT HEIGHTS
To stay safe, which is the number one priority for all mining companies, this RIIWHS204D – Working at Heights training course will help you understand the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of working at heights in a mining environment.
This hands-on, interactive and engaging 1 day course features a wide range of topics covering multiple, real-world scenarios around securing yourself whilst working at heights.
This course will be delivered in partnership with Industry Pathways (National Provider Number (RTO): (NPN: 32513). Specialised High Risk Training and is suitable for people currently working or looking for work in operational roles in coal mining, exploration and drilling, metaliferous mining and civil construction industries.
- Identifying the work requirements
You will learn what classifies as “working at heights” along with an introduction to determining site layout and condition of structures, equipment requirements and potential hazards.
- Identify work procedures and instructions for the task
You will be required to know how to select the correct equipment and inspect it for condition and safety. You will also learn what appropriate signs and barricades are required to be installed.
- Access and install equipment
This is where you will correctly fit, adjust and anchor the fall protection and associated equipment including harnesses, belts, anchor points and your own equipment
- Perform Work at Heights
This part of the course will see you checking safety systems, monitoring risk control, locating material and equipment in accordance with requirements and the manual handling of materials and equipment.
- Clean up
Your shift has finished, it is now time to clean up. You will be shown how to check the safety systems and remove them from the work site together with what is to be cleaned, checked and maintained.

Pre-requisites You must hold a White Card which has the notation ‘Meets the requirements of the National WHS Construction Induction Training’ or similar. You must bring your white card with you on the day of your course.
